Mike Dorffler Scale Data and more
I recall someone asking not long ago if Mike was still selling his CD sets. He is, but he just isn't going out of his way to advertise them. Attached is his latest catalog for whoever is interested.
Mike has also developed a really cool lightweight altimeter. If anyone is interested you can e-mail him using the address in the catalog and he'll send you a user's guide and ordering information.

Buzz,
Thanks! I didn't know Mike was still selling these. These are really amazing sets. |

I thought he had stopped as well, but I asked him about it when I was talking to him about the altimeter. His scale CDs are great. They are well worth getting if you are interested in building any of the rockets he has a disc for. Most of the Talos, Tartar, and Terrier stuff came from me.
The altimeter is pretty cool. I flew one in a Cherokee D and it seems to work well. First chance I get I'm going to put it up with my Arts or Perfectflite boards for a comparison. I was hoping to try it this weekend at the JMRC launch, but it looks like it's going to be wet.

Gordy had a copy of the Pad Abort stuff Mike included on the disks and we found it very helpful doing the project. In the video I did for the EMRR contest there is a line of narration where I thanked George Gassaway and Peter Alway for their scale data we used. The original line of narration also included "Mike Dorffler" but I couldn't ever say all three names quickly enough to squeeze it into the video clip where it belonged, so Mike's name got dropped, LOL. With regard to the altimeter, didn't somebody do a writeup about it a while back? I can't seem to find it. |

I have been sending Mike some hi resolution photos I aquired of the Apollo Pad Abort One flight for inclusion in his data sets. I also sent along some nice photos Dave Fitch sent to Gordy and me of a junkyard LES tower.
Mike let me know he is now distributing his Scale Data Sets on a USB 2.O memory stick which saves him time and money. He is passing along the savings to the modeler. As I mentioned earlier, these are a tremendous resource for scale modelers. |

Bummer.
I misunderstood the title of this thread. I was hoping to build a scale model of Mike Dorffler. |

Mike included some large format plotter printouts when I got my complete set of his wonderful CD's.
