Estes C11 Motors Returning
I hear that all of the C11 motors are back in the pipeline. They are showing they are now coming in from being back ordered.

Good News, indeed! Too bad they could not have made these in the 18mm sizes instead of the 24mm, or was that a big problem?

I welcome the renewed availability of these motors. The booster and long delay pair are well suited to several of my multi-stage rockets. So that rocks! As for them being 18mm, yes, a high thrust, 18mm motor such as a C11 (or C20) would be way kewl! But that implies Estes bringing back a B8-like or B14-like motor with a deep core. I doubt they're rethinking that. Should I start a rumor? Doug .

I see that Tower Hobbies has them in stock. You'll note that the "new" engines are also priced $2.50 more per pack!

Check the real thrust curves on the NAR website. I think the C11 and E9 have the same nozzle dimensions, but the core in the propellant is slightly different depth. Same plugs: black.

You are looking at their discounted price. The list price is the one we care about for comparison purposes and the list price does seem to have increased from the previous $12.79 per pack to $13.49. There is a history of price increases in January and this may be the tip of that iceberg. Full speed ahead!

If this motor goes in the tank, it won't be because of lack of interest; it'll be because of ridiculous pricing Doug .

Here are some comparisons I did a while back. The C11-E9 curves are pretty close. The ~3N difference at peak may imply a different core. Or it could simply amount to lot-to-lot variations, test eqpt variations, etc. To be sure, we could maybe measure them, or someone from Estes could weigh in with an authoratative answer Doug .
