Default Vintage Estes Sandhawk Build

My next vintage build is the Sandhawk. Looks like it will be fun.

YAHOO!

Please, please post pictures! The Sandhawk is one of my all time favorites. Flys well, looks good . . . what more could you ask? I remember my Dad helping me bend and mount the wire payload antennae. Its a shame its one of the $100+ kits on eBay now.

If Rick Piester is following this thread, *please* add the Estes Sandhawk (and the Estes Saros) to the "kits-to-be-re-issued" list! I've always liked model rocket kits that went together like plastic model kits yet were lightweight enough to fly well, and the Sandhawk and Saros both fulfilled these criteria well.

Back in the late 90's I was fortunate enough to have Christine send me 4 or 5 sets of the Sandhawk plastic parts, free.

Scott, you lucky dog!
I have the Terrier Sandhawk and three built-poorly Sandhawks that I won on Epray some years ago. I plan on restoring those to their proper splendor....someday.

Please do post pictures. I recently picked up one of these on ebay and am planning to build. If you decide to use the wires for the antennas rather than the plastic, I'd love to see how that goes.

I'll second that request.

No, don't re-release this kit, then I'll feel really guilty paying $75 for one recently!

Yessss, and I got a few of those from you too, IIRC Plus I got several original sets from that hobby store down in Illinois.

Now, all I need to do is build one...
