Default Estes Rocket Science Kit

I was at a local Target and bought two of these kits, pretty fun little rocket just another renamed Alpha III. I built the first one like the box art, but to be honest it looked much better before applying the peel and stick and decals. When I build the second one I will not add the decals. Or I may just add the old Alpha III decals.

I figured this might be a target.com item for us, but hearing you found one, I’ll have to look in our store.

I managed to pick up a couple of these when I had an errand that took me past the one Target in the Seattle area that carries these.

In looking at it (and thinking about K’Tesh’s Phantom comment on that other forum) I noticed something. This isn’t - strictly speaking - an Alpha III with different livery. It’s actually half an inch longer. The body tube is 6 inches long, not 5.5 as for the Alpha III.

I know - minutiae. But still fun.

Anybody know how long the body tube of the Citation Quasar was/is?

I put this up in response to K’Tesh’s question on the other forum. I should post it here. Family grouping of models using the Alpha III nose cone.

The orange/black Alpha III and the Rocket Science kit rocket (which apparently has no name of its own) are just mockups - body tube, fins and nose cone - nothing inside at the moment.

I can't seem to find my original Citation Quasar at the moment.

The instruction sheet does not have part numbers on it.

My clone with the white fins and nose cone uses a BT-50 7 5/8" long.

The instructions for the later white finned Quasar state it was a BT-50H tube which is 7 1/2" long.

I will have to look for the Quasar...
