Default Nike smoke wheight and motor size

Hello everyone just got back into rockets after a probably 25 or more years due to a stop at the craft store with the wife. Its been a month I have ten built Rockets and probably 15 kits waiting. My daughter loves it also.So know that the introduction is over to the questions.I stepped it up a bit but n the latest project I'm currently building Estes Nike smoke. My questions are what Does your completed rocket wheigh I think I over built this one I used epoxy on evething so far. What is the smallest motor I can fly this on will the E or F 16 motors at my local hobby lobby fly it safely.Last but not least is there a better way to attach shock cord than the paper mount and what can I do to upgrade the launch lugs glueing to outside of tube just doesn't seem sturdy if I do go to an organized launch and put a larger reusable motor.Oh one more suggestions one reloadable motor I was considering aerotech. All suggestions comments and criticism welcome.

Thanks Dennis

Ps sorry for the long winded post

welcome back to the fold. mine weighs in at about 18 ounces w/o motor, to me that says mine would be marginal on the Estes BP motors. I might consider an F22-5 IF the wind was lite, the model does well on F50/ F52 (aero tech) motors. when installed correctly the 'tea bag' shock cord mount works. as do the launch lugs(one fella has launched a stock bird on an I200). the AT 29/40-120 rms is a nice motor case with a number of reloads available. Wildman sells reloads...best choice is to find a local club/ launch and see if they have an 'onsite vendor' for motors.

My Estes PS II Nike Smoke has a mass of 18.6 oz w/o motor.

The shock card mount and launch lugs are fine.

It has only flown once, at NSL 2013, with an AeroTech single-use G80 motor.
A nice, fast, flight.
No damage.

Forget using the Estes BP F15-x unless in ZERO wind.
It just does not have enough average thrust or total n-sec for a bird this large/heavy to make a decent flight.
The Aerotech F22 is barely adequate.

It will fly decently on an E30 for a safe but low flight.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

I'd start with F40 composite motors.

Maybe invest in a RMS if you think you'll be doing a lot of flying.

I flew my Estes NS on a G54 last weekend. Very fast, stable, high-flying.

Estes did a great job on those PSII kits. I'm sorry they didn't commit to them.

I'm split on whether to get a Red Max to round out the set.

Red face

I flew my PSII Nike Smoke a week ago on a G64-7 RMS for its maiden flight. I upgraded the recovery system with Kevlar, a parachute protector, and a 30" nylon parachute. Other details included the inlet and outlet pipes on the nose and semi-scale cast Nike launch shoes. All up weight was 22 ounces. Flight and recovery were fine, although one fin did have the leading edge separate and requiring regluing. Will fly it next time on a motor with a little less initial thrust. Launch picture too large to post.

No need to add nose weight if you stay with the 29mm F,G, and perhaps baby H motors. Plenty of fin area and good length of model.

BTW, my model with the upgrades was 22 ounces empty. All up was actually around 26.
