Default Tri-Fold shock cord anchors fitment

If you are using the traditional Estes shock cord anchor you may tire of seeing the corners peek up as the glue dries. I sometimes have to go and apply a little more adhesive on the leading edge of the mount as the paper curls up an away form the inner surface of the BT.

Find some inexpensive party ballons, take one and make sure that there is a good layer of talc on the balloon. Insert it into the BT until it is just past the mount. Inflate the balloon slightly and then clamp off the neck. The pressure from the balloon will keep the mount against the inner surface and keep the glue at the seam.

Overkill perhaps but it works 100%

Interesting idea. I normally just make sure to use a lot of glue, then after pressing the mount to the tube slide the mount forward and then back to get a good seal.

Estes kits still come that way. That is all some people know.

I do, all the time. After I fold and glue, I press the snot out of it between two small pieces of wood in a vise for about 5 minutes. It comes out nice and flat, and I can shape the mount to the contour of the inside of the BT while it's still somewhat wet. Let it dry and mount as far down the tube as possible. It works for me....never had any problems with it.

That's probably the one modification I make to all kits. Replace it with a longer piece of Kevlar and mount it to the motor mount assembly.

Understood and agreed. Almost all of my clones use a piece of Kevlar hooked under the top of the motor hook and held in place by a centering ring. But when you are asked to "build it just like I did when I was a kid" there are not a lot of options. That and when the BT is a 20.
