The story with the naming, as I understand it, follows what was already posted here. WAC Corporal was a diminutive version of Corporal. So it's like a Womens Army Corps Corporal, not a man Corporal that's a bigger rocket. That doesn't mean that the rocket had anything to do with the Womens' Army Corps. The brass were like, you can't name it like that! So some quick thinking steely eyed missile man came up with the PC version, Without Attitude Control. No wonder GH likes that version better. It's more PC.
