Default "You're doin' a heckuva Blank Canvas, Jimmy!"

Fliskits Acme Spitfire.

Oh, so I've suspiciously ignored the Topper in this photo set? I botched the seam on Cone #1, and I've got #2 goin' in the Shop. Thought I'd be better-served going the HCM route: clipping the printed tab, gluing my own tab, and enjoying a flush butt joint.
What a Gol Durn Fantastic Model! I just can't even hardly believe this thing. A Big Hand for J. Flis, amiright?
If I were Airbrush-Capable I'd like to make this a patchwork of blues, but I'm leaning heavily towards an Astron Ranger Livery. Can you see it, with the shiny Red Capper? The black vertical line and roll pattern'll work well to accentuate the Spitfire's angularity. Black, white, & yellow fins, too.

Default Spitfire Nose Cone

I spread a layer of 15 minute epoxy on the interior surface of the cone and inserted the base up to the premarked lines. As the epoxy sets I'll paint the cone with CFW, and sand, until it's a cone I can live with. I cut the toothpick register at 7/8".

Default Melky Wood Filler to the Rescue!

My overzealous butt-joint "solution" gave me a flat spot.

Default Masking for a White Fin

Tamiya Tape! Pretty good, save for one Mysterious Booger.

Default Big Reveal

I didn't follow the contour of the tube when masking the black, I arched the mask upward between the the fins. Dang it! I'll be more patient, next time, maybe.
Everything's gotta be wet-sanded, now. And I've gotta do another coat of white up top, it looks dull in comparison to the fin.
I sprayed a sheet of Clear Decal Paper with 2X SG Black; I'm gonna try that for a low-profile roll pattern.

Wow! That is some clean, sharp masking!

Default Apple Red & Decal Stripes

Thanks, Chris. I burnished like mad, and tried to float-in a misty first coat; removed the Tamiya Tape after 15+ minutes while the paint was still tacky.

Nose Cone in Apple Red. Aaaargh! My decals are curling on me! I'm a take a deep breath and look at them later.
