Post Egg-Brute Renegade

Does anyone remember the seeing a paint scheme on this very old plan rocket??? I pulled the "flyer" off of EMRR website cause my son wanted a short squatty bird that is uncommon. The flyer said it was a honorable mention from a Design of the Month Contest November 1976 by Joe Dwyer. I have all sorts of motor configuration running through my head for this one. But I would like to build and paint atleast one rocket according to specs, then build another one with my own variations.

This is another GOONY! Use the same basic paint pattern (Red & Black) of the original #1271 Renegade and it will look great!

Black body from about 1/2" to 3/4" above the fin leading edge, down to the bottom of the model, with black fins. Red from that line forward, including the nose cone. Black name decal, positioned in the red area, with a row of white stars along both sides of each fin tip. There is a white stripe outboard of these stars, running chord-wise, but not fully reaching either the leading edge or the trailing edge.

Phred, think "western" renegade motif, as in outlaw.

Heh, heh, I gotta build a couple. I think they would be good for spot landing. Wonder how big a chute can be crammed in ther?e. I also have some old 18mm "E's" that may give this bird a ride.

I just built one...last set of fillets are drying now. It's a cute little feller. I have a streamer in mine as their is not much room in the 3.75" body tube for a chute. I also built mine for a 13mm motor as it's just too darn cute to lose.

Cool Goonized "Renegade" - Egg-Brute

Thanks guys! I am sure I would have figured it out, sooner or later. Been a *&^% of a couple of weeks. between work, getting a new house ready to move into, and that darn holiday that has turned too commercial. Thanks for the help.

Thumbs up Navy Chief, Navy Pride

Gerald,
Nice to see a fellow khaki on here! USS Carl Vinson, NSGA Naples Italy, NAS Oceana, NAS Whidbey Island, CNATTU Whidbey Island. All sea duty except last duty as MTS Instructor. Found my anchors in 2001 and my star in 2004. Could not clear medical sea duty screening for follow-on orders to HM-15. I miss it alot!
Have had a rough time since retiring, but things are looking up.

Hey, where do I find decals for the little bugger??? I am also working on a American Alliance M11, Quest Icarus and Estes Prowler. I put a Canadian Arrow on the back burner after screwing up 2 of the 4 fins while sanding fillets.

Hoo Yah Senior.

I spent almost my entire career out of NAS Oceana...VF-143, 101, 143, 43, 32, 102, and then did my last 3 on the IKE. (Yep...I was a Pukin' Dog twice. )

As for decals...that's a toughie! Hopefully someone will know.

Check with Phred (Excelsior). He mentioned earlier in this thread about making some up. He's out of town for the holidays but should be back December 3rd. He does a GREAT job with decals. You can email him and he should get back to you when he gets a chance.
