A new Bertha with 80's retro decals? Are they waterslide or peel-n-cuss?

Well, John Boren DID say that Estes was finally ditching the all black paint scheme in favor of a retro look. Of course, I prefer the even earlier version in yellow, white and black without the funky hippie inspired "Big Bertha" logo (but that's just me).

I like all the paint schemes up through 1984 better, but at least this version beats all the peel-n-cuss decals it's had the last few years.

The yellow-white-black no-decal "ranger-esque" scheme of the early 70's to early 80's is the best one.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !
Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

I'm not wild about this particular decor scheme, but I'm danged glad to see Estes trying different things. Kudos to them!! And I will surely buy one!

That said, how about them issuing a series of retro looks? Over a year or 18-month span, issue multiple retro looks for the Bertha? "Collect all five!" They could do that for several of the long-in-production kits such as the Alpha, for example. I know most of us here would buy three of each one - one to build, one spare, and one as an investment for our kids' college educations (That'd be like 15 Berthas total )

Seriously, folks like us would, if Estes offered 5 different Bertha decor schemes, buy all 5, without hesitation.

[Edit]By the way, for Estes, this amounts to simply changing the face card and decal sheet - everything else in the bag remains the same. That is, it should present minimal challenges on the supply side.

I have lost two Berthas and own three more. I too would get more. Sad thing about the Michaels around here, they only sell the ready to launch Estes stuff. UGH Hobby Lobby carries Estes kits but that is a 30 minute drive for me .
