I think you will find out that it will land without any damage sustained to any of the fins, assuming of course the chute is deployed!

I don't see why that is. What you have done is not unlike leaving the rear centering ring off until last to allow filleting the inside joints of TTW fins. Just the extra preliminary step of getting the motor tube glued and centered in the tail cone. But then again, I have not done it yet.

I have a Silver Comet, and a two scratch build part-piles, that use that tail cone. I will certainy use this technique!
