Default Estes NCR rockets 4” tube ?

A friend gave me a Estes NCR Big Brute, but more than half the upper main air frame is damaged beyond repair.

The airframe 4” tube is thinner and lighter than LOC tubing.

I have no idea of anyone that makes this tubing anymore?

My only idea is, to see if the Estes Mega Der Red Max 4” tubing might be of the same size and thickness which can still be brought. If it’s of the same size, I could buy one and cut and spic it?

So this brings me to my second question, does anyone know if the Mega Der Red Max main airframe tube is thinner than Loc’s 4” tubeing?

Thank you

The MDRM's tube has a 0.050 wall thickness. I have no idea how thick a 4 inch LOC tube is, but based on the one smaller LOC kit I have (a Weasel) I expect they are rather thicker-walled.

Here's the MDRM tube: https://estesrockets.com/product/08...tted-body-tube/

I believe the NCR Big Brute used a BT-39 tube, 17" long, .040" thick.
Thinner than a MDRM tube, per post above.
LOC cardboard airframe tubes are .0475" thick.
A BT-101 tube is .042" thick.
I'm thinking the NCR BT-39 is the same as the Estes BT-101.
FWIW.
EDIT: scratch that, I forgot to divide by 2! BT-101 is .021" thick.

Do you know if that is the original NCR version released originally in 1989 or the NCR by Estes version from the 90’s? The original version airframe had 3.89 Id, 3.97 od .040 wall.

I got the info from the NCR catalog at Ninfinger's and an EMRR review which listed the airframe as a BT-39. So original pre-Estes.

I think you are right, and indications from Matt Steele indicate his recollection was that NCR by Estes kits used the same 4” tube so all Big Brutes original NCR and Estes should use the 3.89 id 3.97 od, .04 wall airframe. Loc and I think Estes is 3.9 id 4” OD .5 wall, so close enough to do a repair with sanding the coupler or tape wraps on the NC.
