Default Centuri KE-001 Nike-Ram - Fins

Now I'm throwing you a curve...

I didn't see this one posted on the SEMROC list of fin sheets, and I know I haven't done one yet, so I'm going to add it to the collection.

The fin outlines were taken from SEL's (Sean Lannan) plan pack (location???), which had a photo image of the fins out of their carrier.

Main body tubes are a 12.5" and an 8" length of ST-13. The balsa NC equivalent is either the BNC-1327 or BNC-1327S.

Default Estes #1339 Space Cruiser Excalibur - Fins

A bunch of wavy lines and hundreds of plot points!

Builds into a nice model, though!

I did not include a canopy pattern, as the one posted already is adequate. The fin patterns are two sheets of 4" x 9.6" x 1/8" balsa.

Default Estes #1344 Nomad - Fins

This design originally used a two-piece molded plastic fin can. The outline used for this sheet was taken from the outline included with the plan scans on YORP.

I'm suggesting three possible materials - 3/32" balsa, 1/16" basswood, and 0.05" matteboard.

This fin can was also used on the Saros (K-54). In fact, the Nomad is a stretched Saros with different decals.

I thought I remembered that from somewhere...

Memory is the second thing to go...

I'll make an addition in the pattern list with the next update. Thanks!

Craig,

Semroc has the Nike-Ram fins available as part # FEJ-KE1.

The ST-13 body tube lengths are 12" and 8".

Thanks for the heads-up. I must have passed right over it in the list.

ADDENDUM: Correction made to the pattern list. A link to SEMROC's page has been included.

Someone with a kit (built or unbuilt) please check these patterns for correct size and shape. The only available image is the plan page [est1977b].

Craig
I measured the fins I have . I have a complete kit.

Root 1 11/16"
Leading Edge 3 7/16"
Trailing Edge 2 7/8"
Tip 11/16"

Also sent you scan of fins at 200dpi gray scale.

There are two other parts you have not scanned 1. The Booster standoffs (2 req. ) 1/4" x 9 7/8" and 2. launch lug standoffs 1/4"x 1.5"( 2 req. ) I can do a re-scan and include these also.

Body tubes Length
Bt55 18"
Bt50 2ea. 9.5"

Note this also leads to the question . Was this fin pattern used in any other Estes Kits?

Thanks guys! The PDF from the other thread fit right into the outline like it was meant to. Once I get the remaining pieces plotted, I'll post a revised sheet.
