Default Centuri Python Fighter

Maybe I should take a break more often. Several grey hairs ago, I picked up a bunch of the PNC-50 nose cones that were used in this kit as well as a couple of Estes kits whose name now escapes me. Tonight I was wandering around the wreckage of my shop, wondering what my comeback project would be, and for once in my life I was stumped for something to build. Then I found the Python Fighter plan on YORP. Arley Davis tried to gin up something on this one several years ago, and I actually went as far as to make a set of fins based on what he came up with, but they didn't look so hot in the mock-up. I was to the point of doubting that this kit ever existed, but thanks to Don Altschwager, I now have something to look forward to upon waking tomorrow afternoon. Looks like a cool small field bird, which means that someday soon it will grace the treeline around B6-4 Field.

Certainly was a short lived bird. I guess you could go with top cover for the Mante Bomber. In looking at the scan of the balsa two of the fins appear to be shorter in chord than the third. Anyone know if that was the case or if the scan balsa was just chewed up? Now we know how to make a paper cone like this we are all good. Or just go to Sirius...

Funny you should mention that. I think my cone might have been the one that Mike used to make the Moldin' Oldies cone before the sale to Sirius.

Still there I think. I built two Mantas this year using the part.

Glad to see you back on YORF, Bill.

Nice to be back. I must be back because I finished three rockets this weekend. (Well, the construction. Paint will be later in the week and I need to talk to Gordon about the Python Fighter decals.) All three are 18mm birds that I hope will work well up the street since that's my home field again.

The Python Fighter (must be some horrible snake problems on that planet,) and Super Alpha are done except for the finishing fun. Photon Disruptor still needs the "doral fins" attached, but I should have that sone before I leave for work tonight. I'm thinking A8-3s for the Python Fighter next weekend, and B6-4s to start off for the other two. They're both bigger and bulkier enough that I'll take a C6-5 or two along just in case.
Of course, this all depends on the weather cooperating, so I could just be farting in a hurricane.
