Default Estes Maxi-Icarus

This was a quicky project that I was working on while I watched the "big game". I cannibalized the cone and internals from my next to last Screamin' Mimi and the payload from an Estes Payloader that I had planned to turn into an Estes Warp II.
Man, I miss the Mimi.
I'll seal and sand this tomorrow, then get it primered and painted for the weekend launch. (Unless the white death holds sway over all.) I need some more black ink for my printer, but I think I'm up to the challenge of turning out a set of decals for this one. (Although it's been a while and never with this printer.)

Do you drink the peroxide, or do you have a secret rocket building technique?

I had an infected toe for the last week or so. (What my mom called a "fellen" when we were kids.) Last night at work I got tired of it, so I went at it with my Leatherman in true redneck fashion. One of the ATM ladies almost passed out when she found out what I had done. Tonight I can walk and wear a shoe, so I call it a successful surgery.

Lookin' good BIll ( the bird, not your toe ) .

I still have my vintage maxi Icarus, converted when originally built to 29mm, using one of the old Cellestial Enterprises motor mount kits ( with long engine hook for FSI F100's :-)

First flight, before decals, on an F100 tore the fins off, but she's been fixed, then decaled, and has a few flights over the years, but not many, should drag her out and burn a few sometime.. not today with the gale-force winds and -20 wind chill :-(

~ AL

ps: if you;re having trouble finding Mimi kits, let me know, the local shop had a few last week, but pretty pricey ( maybe 5% off retail, would need to check , lmk )

It just so happens I have an original kit decal staring at me over my workbench...

Let me know if you want the 'real thing'.

Have it to you priority mail, cheap.
