Default Finishing up a bunch of old builds

I'm currently working on finishing up a bunch of builds I have had sitting for years, some over 10.
After collecting all the Xacto sets and tools, I figured I better put them to use.
My second #89 Xacto set is no longer "unused" for the past 40 years.
Once finished with the builds, I will post pics prior to painting.
Not really painting season here in Michigan right now, but have lots of time to build over the Christmas break.

Currently working on:
Semroc SST Shuttle, 90% done now, Balsa filled/sealed.
Semroc Orbital Transport, 99% done.
Semroc Nike-Tomahawk, 99% done.
Estes Scissor-Wing Transport, 80% done.
Semroc Saturn 1B, 80% done.
Estes 1/45 Little Joe II, 30% done.

All but the Saturn and Little Joe II should be done this week.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

Lol.
I know I tend to post build pics rather sparingly.
Most likely, I can post pics of the Orbital Transport, SST Shuttle, and Nike-Tomahawk in a couple days.

The SST Shuttle only has the 4 outer jet pods and the canards to be added.
3 days ago it was only 30% done.
Centuri originally rated that one as a Skill Level 5. It's barely a Skill Level 2 compared to building any "normal" built-up R/C airplane kit.

I have the SST Shuttle open and ready to go whenever the urge to dive into something more complicated strikes. The Little Joe 1 that I got from the recent Estes sale is also lurking. Right now I'm finishing up the Estes Solar Warrior and Solar Flare projects. I must be feeling sun deprived.

The SST Shuttle isn't a difficult build at all.
It just has more pieces than a 3FNC. Filling/sealing all the wood is tedious.
I like "futuristic" type builds and have a whole heap of them (vintage and modern) in the kit stash.

About the ONLY rocket kit I would rate as a true Skill Level 5 is the original Estes K-41 Mercury Redstone due to that complex wooden escape tower.

I built that one when I was 16. Never flew it. Always regretted it.

If you go all out on the finish, that's what can make it a 5. There's lots of small detail sanding between and around bits, and lots of nooks and crannies to try to make nice even coats of paint lay down. That's why mine isn't finished. It still has filler on it where I got sick of sanding and left it that way.

I built the K-41 when I was around 11 or 12.
Have a couple in the stash but have not wanted to deal with that tower again. I may use plastruct rod to build the tower.

I still have an unopened kit of that Estes MR. Built one back in 1970 or '71, did a lousy job on the finish but have flown it a few times.

The unopened kit will be built when I retire and have the time to devote for the work needed.

I have an original nose cone, but haven't collected the other parts yet.
