Default Parachute Vendors?

Who are the manufacturer's of custom parachutes?

I have heard of "Fruity Chutes" and "Top Flight Recovery" and am wondering two things:

1. Are there any other vendors who make/sell parachutes for model rockets?
2. How do I find them/their websites?

Thanks!

Top flight recovery llc does a fair amount of 'mail order' trade, he also makes chutes for a fair amount of rocket kit makers(Madcow and Wildman to name two), and can be found here; http://topflightrecoveryllc.homestead.com/index.html

A friend of mine owns Spectrachutes. Very well made.

You might want to state your needs, we also can make custom sized chutes if needed.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I am mostly just looking to upgrade from the plastic chutes that came with some of my kits (Estes). Nothing is wrong with the chutes but my son's saw some that were different at a recent launch and that got me thinking.

I know that when I attempt my L1 and L2 I will have some definite "needs/wants" and am really just looking for information at this point.

For Estes sized rockets, you can't go wrong with thin kill chutes from Top Flight. I have several. They are easy to pack in tubes from BT-55 and up. There may be other manufacturers using thin mill nylon, I just have not looked.

Make sure you pack wadding in carefully. Thin mill will scorch much easier than regular nylon.

Another recommendation for Top Flight here. The "thin-mil" chutes are perfect for LPR models, I use them all the way down to BT-20 (9"), when I want increased opening reliability. Was able to pack a 24" in a BT50 model. Very good in cold weather, and hot humid weather, both which present problems for plastic chutes.
