I've had very good luck painting my birds with the Rusto fluorescent rattlecans and overcoating with the Rusto Crystal Clear. Uncoated fluoro paints are really dirt magnets and the Crystal Clear prevents the staining that otherwise ruins a nice finish. As Mark II said, the clear overcoat does darken most fluoro paints. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.

Here's an example of the color shift.

Photo 1 is the base color and Photo 2 is the color coat that have been overcoated with Crystal Clear.
