Woke up to a very heavy snowfall. Tree limbs bent down, even without any leaves yet!
This was looking out about 830am. I spent over an hour running the snowblower. Its still coming down! The patio furniture has over a foot of snow piled on it now. I just assembled two more intakes for a QCC Explorer, so just one more to go. This was as exhausting as clearing snow ... almost.

Wow, it’s hard to even ‘believe’ snow exists anywhere right now! Not to say we don’t have cold weather in Georgia, because we do. We even have snow here in mid-Georgia once every few years (and once we had 14 inches...no foolin’!).
But, we have already had a good handful of days back in March that pushed 90 degrees though it has been, on average, cooler the past 5-6 days. That is pretty looking snow, as snow goes. I’m sure it gets tiring removing it though. Earl

Earl, When we got snow last week, I figured that was it, because it had been pretty warm for days, and I had even worn shorts and a t-shirt to do yardwork. This one surprised me, because it is a pretty big storm. It is still snowing outside at 430pm. I just took the attached picture. The mugo pine at the end of our driveway is really bent down. That tree is over 35 years old and huge, probably 18-20 feet tall. Every year it seems we get at least one heavy snow that bends it over, and its always come back without a broken branch. I can’t say the same about our other trees, though. We have had some major limbs snap over the years.

It is pretty looking snow, no doubt.
But yes, snapping limbs is probably the biggest snowy/icy weather danger we have here. Pines, which we probably have the most of in Georgia (it varies some from North Georgia to South Georgia) are particularly susceptible to loading down from freezing rain and the snow, when we get it. We seem to have a bigger problem however with the freezing rain, where the limbs and needles just get coated in ice. Typically, this happens overnight and into the early morning hours, and limbs start snapping and breaking, sounding just like rifle shots all through the still, quiet night. The next morning, the front and back yard look like a war zone with big pine limbs down everywhere, staddle fence lines (crushing them usually), and if you didn’t move your car out of the way, on top of them too. And the air smells just like fresh cut pine everywhere. Luckily, we don’t get winter precip like that every year, but just often enough that one dreads when the forecast mentions the potential for freezing rain or snow. Sleet generally is not much of a problem, as it tends to fall through the pines right to the ground. Earl

We are supposedly getting snow tomorrow in lower Michigan.
Just what we DON'T NEED.
