DC Flyover
Went up on the roof to watch the flyby today. I was expecting them to be a couple of blocks away. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your point of view (bad pun). A co-worker shot these.

I saw a Mustang flying north early this week. I wonder if it was one of those.

Awesome!
I miss our local airshows. We had airshows throughout the 90's. They stopped because of 911. I miss the 80's!

Wow, warbirds!!
Oh, duh, 70th anniversary of V-E Day!
Great photos. Even if you were a couple blocks away, I'll bet all that warbird horsepower rattled your innards a bit. Is there a more thrilling feeling? Lemme see if I still remember my WWII aircraft... Working from memory (NO resorting to Wikipedia), from left to right: 1. A B-24 in pre-War Army Air Corps markings 2. A Lockheed Hudson in D-Day RAF markings. 3. Two F4U Corsairs (who'd mistake that one?*) 4. Three B-25s, the one on the far right appearing to have the short-lived red outline on the U.S. roundel. 5. And 4 P-51 Mustangs, three of 'em with D-Day markings, but I'm not good enough to tell B/C and D models apart without seeing the canopies. Best I can do. The best memory of my high school graduation was an airshow the weekend before at the local airport, with a full contingent of "Confederate Air Force" planes. (This was before the name change.) Good times. ___________ *Even if you weren't glued to the TV set for every episode of Baa Baa Black Sheep in 1977.

Yes, Mike has the equipment—I've never seen the like except at a professional photo shoot. He's also is a very good photographer. As soon as I knew he was going to shoot, I put my crap away. The whole thing was pretty impressive. And, upon consideration, our airmen during the war, particularly in the bombers, had to have had real courage and verve. I'm very lucky and proud to be born an American.

Wow ! A pic of one of very few airworthy/flying P-38 Lightning aircraft.
I thought B-29 "Fi Fi" burned....did they rebuild it ???
