Thunderbird-3 plans/parts/help?
If any of you have seen the Sci fi show thunderbirds, then you will know the TB-3 shuttle is epic! I want to build one based either bt-60 or bt-80, with maybe a 3 D cluster, abd a ducted ejection using the three vanes from the engine pods. please tell me how you would go about this and possibly the best parts to use? I am at a loss for this. thanks.

There have been several sizes over the years that I know of, all the way up through HPR. With such wide pods, it would be a lot safer to build it with a conventional center mounted motor. If only two motors light on the separated cluster, it will do cartwheels.

Danny,
There is a good write-up on Thunderbird 3 in the Hagerty and Rogers Spaceship Handbook on pages 312 and 313. A build article for a DESCON can be found here: DESCON Thunderbird 3 Hope this helps get you started...

I meant to do a central mount, those pods are WAY to far apart for my comfort level. and I will look into those links. thanks all.

Despite my little mishap, I really do think the 3 outboards/no central can fly fine and am pretty sure I know what went wrong with the electronics. If you PM or email me offline, I can get you some extensive parts lists, Rocksim files, etc. related to my build and go over any of the build details. I have started building a second version, even more detailed than the first, but at the moment it's taking a bit of a backseat to getting ready for this year's NARAM. The model wound up being very stable on C's, which gave it plenty of kick and until it arced over and was obviously not going to deploy, it was a spectacular flight . --Chan Stevens |

Just in case you want to go with a little scale detail...

I was looking into doing one last year. By the time I got done looking I decided I would never be able to finish one to a standard I'd be happy with.
Or if I did, I would never want to launch a nice Thunderbird 3... |

I played around with the idea a few years back. Round poly tube and aluminium aerofoil shaped tube making up the various struttery. I was looking at a BT-50/55 build then. I still may...
