When did Estes release this kit and HOW was it available? BTW, it does look just like the Renegade, but I think you are right in that this one IS the LJS.

P.S. Class of '80 RULES!!! (....and from 34 years ago almost to the month.... I remember Al Michael's words like it was yesterday "Do you believe in miracles!!")

Wow.....34 years ago......I used to be young one time ago.

I didn't know about it until I saw Mike Rohde's at a TORC launch. AFAIK no one has ever figured out where it falls on the Estes kit release timeline. It's an 18mm bird, so it could be that one of the kids hadn't figured out the whole A, B, C thing when this was taken. A8-5 flight? B6-6?
We would go to school in the morning and watch the taped games in the library before first bell. Pretty sure I waltzed in late to class a couple of days that week, but seniors could get away with quite a bit. It was THE only time I felt like a part of my class. One of my few good memories of high school.

Is it just compression of field by the camera, or are those kids in photo #5 awfully close to the launcher?
