John, That's just truly outstanding craftsmanship on behalf of us all! This is a REALLY impressive kit. I've pointed out in several venues that this looks to be far superior to the old Centuri kit. Your work is simply superb! Steve |

John you are such a tease!!! Like holding raw meat just above the water surface of a pool or piranhas
I am trying to build a sim file for this...my weight comes up to something like 6.5 oz empty...of course I am guessing at the thicknesses of the molded capsule, main body tube, etc. Do you happen to have a RS file or the component weights? I can't wait for late December!!! |

Good idea, and maybe a 2nd one for Valentines Day? Just to be safe, maybe even a 3rd in the Easter basket ... They say this winter could be a tough one. I say "No problem!" I have a huge inventory of kits, and they will likely stay in storage due my greater desire to do builds of this LJII and the new Honest John. We are remodeling the lower level of our home, so I'll try to devote a little time to that!

There is a lot of plastic in this model. The thin vacuum form wrap is over .6 ounces all by itself. Apart from the Apollo Capsule all this weight is behind the Balance Point which means added clay to the nose to get it to balance ready to fly. Larger motors require more nose weight. You can expect a ready to fly weight of 8.3 ounces if built per the kit. The balance point is at the same 6.25" from the rear end of the main body tube as the old Centuri model. John Boren |

As much as I love how Estes/Hobbico is listening to us with bringing back great kits of the past, I wish they would do the same regarding motors.
If we can't have the B14 back, at least bring back the C5 and B8....pleeeeeease !

How about this Estes 1/45 Scale Saturn 1B next? Sure would hate to have to clone her myself. Again, great job Estes!!! Great day for all us Born Again Rocketeers. |

John, this looks fantastic! I'm really enjoying the scale kits from Estes. I'm finally getting around to building the PS Nike Smoke, just bought a Mercury Redstone, will pick up a HoJo as soon as it shows up at my LHS, and probably 2 of these. It'll look great next to my 1:64 Saturn V, even wth the different scale. Will it be packaged in a box?
