I'm in the final stages of painting this bird. I am also building a second one from parts. I believe the thinner balsa for the sustainer was less about drag and more about weight. The less the booster has to lift, the better. The Farside X kit that Semroc sells uses a thicker balsa than the original. With no B-14 to boost it, a full-stack launch will be an adventure. The Comanche 3 does well with D12-0 as the booster. I think I'll make a version of the booster to use a 24mm motor.
