Default Semroc PNC-80AH?

I was upstairs pondering on an original design while ago and thinking about the easiest way to build the odd shaped upper portion when something occurred to me. I know it's been thought of before because it's too simple.

Everybody knows now that Carl doesn't have a BT-80 upscaled nosecone for the PNC-60AH (Red Max, Citation Patriot, etc.) because the cone is too long for Carl's fancy pencil sharpener. No problem. Turn the cone in two parts and let the customer glue it together. In simplest form, the pieces would fit flush. A person would just need to be patient and get the halves lined up correctly.

Or, if one wanted to get fancy, turn the base with a hole about 1/4"-1/2" deep at the top of it and the upper part with a deep shoulder to fit inside, making them easy to line up and stay in place while the glue dries.

Pros:

1. The folks without a lathe can now enjoy a mass produced PNC-80AH.
2. That's one less cone I have to turn for myself when I want to upscale something.

Cons:

1. Price would be higher than the PNC-80AO which is very close in size.
a. Double the wasted balsa
b. Double the labor

Ok...back to snorting balsa dust for me.

Red face

A simple pre-drilled hole in the center for a small wood dowel would help with the laighnment too

Sure would.

BTW, the two piece concept would be easy to hollow out to make the cone lighter if someone desired to do so.

....or to add some internal weight to make it heavier.
