I mean OLD, like before the iMac.

I've searched the Alps group and the short answer is, "No, it will not work on a PC or a Mac less than 10 maybe 15 years old."

Contact Kurt Schachner. He has Apple stuff so old I'll bet Wozniak built it in his garage. He may have an old Mac available for you.

Yeah, when I picked up these two (MD-4000 and MD-2300) cheap years ago, I had to find an old PowerPC that had the SCSI connectors on it. Unfortunately that machine had some issues with the OS since I bought it from a school district that was liquidating assets. So if no one want them, I'm taking them to the recyclers.

Could some of the mechanical parts be used on other ALPS printers?

BTW, there are SCSI conversion adapters out there. You could run the Mac OS in a virtual machine (VirtualBox, VMware, etc.).

If the mechanical parts are worth it to someone, or if they want to play with the virtual machines and converters, they can offer to pay shipping for them. Otherwise they are taking up room in my garage and it's time for them to move on.
