Estes Saturn V Build
With the celeberation of the Golden Scout at NARAM-50 in honor of Vern & Gelda Estes, the first manned mission to set foot on the moon 39 years ago in July, watching the Discovery Channel's When We Left The Earth, The Nasa Missions, Nasa's 50th Anniversity, I got the bug to start a few Saturn V's.
It's been too hot here in Kansas to fish or be outside, I'm outside enough during the week working so I got out a few Saturn V's. The first Saturn (photo K36 1) is a K-36 with the stock engine mount, single D (K36 2) or 3 C's (K36 3). The second Saturn (photo 2001 1) is a 2001 with the stock engine mount, single D (2001 2). The third Saturn (photo 2001 3) is also a 2001 with a True Modeler's motor mount, 3x24mm(2001 4). I have several K-36's and 2001's yet to be built with different motor configurations. genimijim |

Good luck and keep us posted; I've always loved the Estes K-36 Saturn - V (and Centuri's
vintage Saturns).

I launched my Estes Saturn V (#1236-KIT K-36) at the City-Wide Rocket Launch Competition in Hays, It won me the most realistic and most original prizes even though it wasn't painted. I had copied the fins off an Estes Saturn V (#2001) put them on the 1236. I also made changes in where it seperated, did the same as Dave (dwmzmm) on his K-36.
It launched perfectly with 3 C6-3's, safe recovery. I also launched an Ester Recuiter, modifed with a D motor, it won the highest altitude prize. I didn't even ask what the altitude was, still trying to contact the people that put the launch on. Jim (genimijim) |

You know....that is really weird. I think this is the first time I've seen photos of a naked Saturn V launch......
