Yea, I got a non-drilled Penrose-made(1976) Centuri B14 from Vern at NARAM last year and the nozzle was smaller than I remember. The B14s from early 70's had much larger nozzles.
During my 1977-1983 stint in the hobby I don't remember getting any B14s, much less using any. I flew lots of C5's and later B8 motors.

Brand and Year of B14?
B14-0, B14-5, and B14-7's, Estes brand, late production just before the B8 came out.
I recall buying them the same year the B8's came out and both were on the hobby shop shelf.
Nozzle exit diameter and shape is very similar to current production B4.

The earlier Centuri B14-7's that I have (early 70's production) appear to have a slightly larger nozzle exit diameter than the Estes B14

, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

There are diagrams on the different Estes motors, including the b14's, I remember seeing them in copies of the MRN is I remember correctly.

The B14 had several changes throughout it's life apparently.
Those drawings probably only capture the version that was in production at the time that MRN was published.

Well, I was digging through the garage today and I found a couple of rockets. One was the Razor tube fin model I helped my daughter build and fly a few years ago. The other was a green sparkle tube model with a yellow nose cone and fin assembly model I bought and flew with her a few years before that. I also found the launch pad and launch controller. I even have about a dozen motors. I still can't find my stash of vintage models.

And so the search continues...

Yes, there were differences. The newer versions, despite having a fairly deep throat into the propellant, don't seem to be drilled like the older ones. I have some old Centuri B14s that are very different. When you look into the nozzle you see a face of black powder that has a definite hole that's been drilled into the propellant. Newer ones don't have this type of core.

The laser cut fins are especially nice for this model, with the sharp corners & notches for the stage coupler. Excelsior rocketry has the decals too.
