Cool! I've got a piece of an original Nike Ajax kit given to me by a childhood friend. I haven't done anything with it. The decals are missing and I can't make my own white decals that look good so I haven't done anything with it. I'd be happy to see either the original or an upscale....or both!

I flew my Nike Apache a lot when I first built it. It has lots of pavement rash from taking it down to Huntsville (60 miles from my in-laws) when HARA used to fly at the old airport. A new hangar queen would be nice, without having to scratchbuild.
I'm also happy to see the ASM. It was one I always intended to buy, but never did.

I’ve always liked Estes’ Airborne Surveillance Missile (see: http://www.estesrockets.com/coming-...illance-missile ), and I’m glad to see this kit back in production! It also has great potential for “after market modifications” by builders who are so inclined. This kit is patterned after the Canadair CL-89 turbojet-powered (and rocket-launched) reconnaissance drone (see: http://www.google.com/#q=canadair+c...naissance+drone ). With a micro EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) and R/C system installed (see: http://micromodeldrome.com/ ), the “upper stage” of the Airborne Surveillance Missile would make a “hot” micro radio-controlled EDF jet model, and it could even—like the actual CL-89—be launched under rocket power (no lower than 30 degrees down from local vertical, of course) using its mini motor-powered booster! Also:

Thank you, John, for bringing back that 1:10 scale Nike-Apache kit, too! It can also be “builder-modded” if desired (to use gap-staged ignition of a 13 mm mini motor in the Apache second stage, including streamer recovery of the Nike by employing Evan “Buzz” Nau’s gap-staged lower stage recovery techniques). Plus, as SEL pointed out in Reply #8 above, the Nike-Apache kit can be used for kitbashing other scale sounding rockets (the Bullpup-Apache and Nike-ASP are just two of numerous examples). As well, I too “second” bringing back the Nike-Ajax kit (in addition to its intrinsic appeal in and of itself, it would also have kitbashing potential—a Nike-Orion [using a three-finned “Army green” Nike with ‘cut-down’ fins] is just one such example).
