Default Thrustline Arapaho E

I've just been in touch with John at Thrustline. It looks like he's going to send us the information to resurrect his Arapaho E kit. Unfortunately, we'll probably have to recreate the instructions, decals and everything else so it's going to take some time. Don't look for a kit release next week or anything.

Okay guys, I now have in hand the documentation that John at Thrustline sent. Unfortunately, it's all hard copy, no electronic files. This means that I will have to completely retype and illustrate the instructions and recreate the decals. John sent me a fin template which will be scanned and converted into a laser cutting file. John didn't provide laser cut parts so I'll have to do minor rewording in the instructions as well. It's all going to take a while.

At the moment, we now have 12 kits in the works. Our next release will be the Two Cool for Spool, I just need to do the photo shoot for package art and then work that into a face card. We're also wanting to get the Pumpkin Pie out before Halloween. Then we have the Swordfish kit, the Arapaho will fall right before this or right after, depending on the breaks I get. The Swordfish instructions are written and partially illustrated but I'm not so far into it that the Arapaho couldn't catch up. I'm also going to have to get some balsa turned, the Arapaho uses parts we don't currently stock.

Of course, my biggest concern is time. The time I devote to Squirrel Works first goes to getting orders out, then restocking. Developing new kits gets the little that's left. I'll start retyping Arapaho instructions within a week, right now I'm up to my eyeballs in Call Box parts.

Something in the air? Chris Michielssen recently blogged his build of a BT-55 downscale: http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot...%20Arapahoe%20C

Maybe. This started over on TRF with a thread about defunct vendors, there was mention of this kit. John and I had spoken a couple of times about taking over his line but nothing ever came of it. After looking at the thread, I contacted John again and now we're bringing the kit back.

I've officially gotten started. I recreated the fin template and converted it into a temporary laser file. I cut out the first set and compared them against the original fin template from John. Looks good so far.

Does anyone remember the original price of the kit? I'm sure we're not going to be able to hit it, the price of turned parts has gone up but I would like to see how close I can come.

Yeah, I'm not going to hit that at all.
