Default Estes Der Red max on D engine?

Has anyone tried modifying the Estes 16" Der Red Max to fly on a D engine instead of the standard size engines?
I really like the looks of Gremlin and Goblin style rocket's and believe it can easily handle D power. I plan to pick one up next.

Oh, it can handle it, no problem.

I've done it. It just takes a long time to find it.

Or rather than add nose weight, you could replace the body tube with an 18" piece of BT-60 and have the Big Red Max that as I recall was offered in the 70's. Same decals, same fins just longer body tube.

That will probably work, sounds great I'll give it a shot.

I built my first D powered rocket back in the early 80's and lost it on its maiden voyage and I've been hooked ever since.

Or even better, try a cluster of 3 x 18mm. Nose weight required. I'll be flying mine as soon as the snow melts below waist deep
