Default R/C Model B-29 Crash

R/C Model B-29 Crash. I think this has gone viral.

I got to see the first B-29 when I lived in SW Florida in Cape Coral.

This guy did things with this plane I'm not sure the full size B-29 could do!

I remember a R/C B-52D powered by four turbines being demolished in a firey crash about 10 years back.

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

GH,

That sucker had 8 R/C turbines not four. The builder wanted it scale.
I remember that plane and crash.

BTW, I saw the second one fly not the first. Their were four total. The day after I saw the second one, it crashed in a flat spin, no survivers!

The B-29 r/c pilot is Mac Hodges. I'm lucky to count him as a friend. I have witnessed his show many times, and it is always a thrill, especially when the X-1 drops, is flown almost to a landing, then the rocket motor is ignited and it flies in a beautiful arc upwards.
The bomber's left outboard engine throttle servo connector failed, so the model developed a massive yaw, and crashed. Sad, but not the first time he's had one tear up! It's quite a complicated model, as you would imagine!

Wow. I thought that B-52D used one turbine per two-engine nacelle.
At 2 grand each, that's $16K in engines alone.
I remember seeing some pics of mangled turbines as a result of the crash.

Thanks Allen.

My eldest son sent me the link, which I saw earlier. He flies for the U.S. Navy. He is a EP-3 driver in Washington State at Whidbey Island, where the movie "Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed.
I will be out there in late August. I can't wait to be out there again.

GH, I could be wrong, but I remember there being 8 engines with that model.

There is some dern fool who was thinking about launching an Avro Lancaster rocket powered bomber at NARAM. Trying to light 8 motors at once, talk about asymmetrical trust. And no RC to save it if it doesn't fly straight up like a rocket should. Might just scare him off
