I have not heard of these, were did you see them?

A few years ago, I saw an ad for ceramic #11 blades but I can't remember who sold them and if they are still available. Sometimes you can get good deals on blades when they are on sale from places like Micro Mark or Model Expo or even Hobblinc.

These were talked about on the paper modeling forum a year or so ago IIRC... I signed up at a link someone posted to get a free one to try, but never received it... I guess they got too many requests and just sent what they had to the first ones and stopped...

Well, that is a pack of 500 blades...

Keep most modeling folks in business for about a hundred years...

PS. For less than truckload quantities, Hobby Lobby has them... but they are quite a bit pricier than the "standard" blades...

I bought a 5 pack at Walmart, of all places, a few weeks ago for about $3. Haven't had a chance to try them yet.

5 paks at Walmart huh ?
May have to try 'em.
I like a SHARP #11 blade. at any sign of 'dullness' it gets pitched. Anything that would make them last longer would be welcome within reasonable price parameters.

The best that I've used were/are the old Testor's Model Master - the sides are black/"blued"
in color. Several packs have been GH'd over the years

I usually don't have a #11 blade long enough for it to get dull. My problem is breaking off the point. Once that happens it doesn't cut basswood and hard balsa as well, and it will SHRED cardstock.
