Nichrome wire
Hello,
I bought 33 pounds of nichrome wire and it's all the good stuff (Chromel A or Tpphet A - the non-rusting iron-free alloy 80/20). 30, 31 and 32 guage. I've listed some rolls of 100 feet on eBay. Check it out and bid if interested. I think I've set both the starting price and the Buy It Now prices pretty low. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1Q...Zshreadv ector Enjoy! |

http://www.dars.org/jimz/catalogs/70est095.jpg http://www.dars.org/jimz/catalogs/70est106.jpg Estes used bare wire for a while as did Centuri. I remember 32 ga. for the bare wire. Centuri continued to use 32 ga. for the wire in the sure shot igniters. Estes "Astron" igniters existed in two versions and both were "NW1". The first version was either 28, 29 or 30 ga. with a smashed center section that was flattened to make it easier to bend and the smashed area would heat up first. It was covered with a plastic-like pyrogen. Later they changed it to a slightly thinner guage (30 or 31) and they eliminated the smashed section but retained the pyrogen. -Fred Shecter NAR 20117 |
