Default Jayhawk scale

Hello:

I'm starting a 1/5 scale Jayhawk (AQM 37-A model 1019) build, and would like to make it as accurate as possible for a scale model competition. Does anyone know of available scale information, other than the basic measurements?

I've seen the webpages at:
http://www.nambarberspoint.org/
http://www.astronautix.com/lvs/aqm37.htm

And of course the very good page at:
http://www.rocketryonline.com/jimba...m-37/aqm-37.htm

I'm particularly looking for more detailed measurements, and detailed (close-up) pictures of the pitot tube, antennae, etc.

I know that there are display models in Hawaii and in Chino, California... Anyone nearby want to take some pictures for me?

Thanks in advance,
Hutch

NARTS has a set of scale data on that model. It's pretty good; I think Chris Timm put it together (I may have contributed a picture or two--it's been ten years, so I apologize if I misrepresented that). I've found some pictures of it in non-US markings, if you want to finish it that way.

I think Chris or somebody also took some pictures of one in the NASM annex. I have posted what I have on my computer here.

ETA: The pitot horn is the main thing missing from the Estes kit; it can be seen on a couple of the pics I posted. Also the drop fixtures. The orange and white one is pretty, but it's an AQM-37C.

Thanks Ted:

Don't know why I did not think of NARTS.... anyway, have ordered the plans from their site.

Thanks for the pictures!

No problem. I had fun with that model (see avatar, and below).

I've also attached some R&D I found (I think I wrote much of it, but I could be wrong) from 1997. I have black and white pics of a French one, somewhere around.

Take your time on the paint--lots and lots of light coats of fluorescent, wet sanding in between, with future wax on top.
