I've had a ~1:43 Saturn 1B started for several years, but it's on the back burner. That shot makes me wonder if they might release one that uses the LJII top end.

the Arianne on the left is the only one that is truly new. The big 1b to the left, if i'm not mistaken, is probably 25 years old, left over from the prototypes, one of which they flew and crashed out at NARAM 34. I saw it when I peered into John Boren's lab at Estes on the NARAM tour last year (the Arianne was there too, along with a really big Pershing 1A -- bigger than the Maxi Brute version).

That page says: "Here's some of our past, present, and maybe future kits." For those that took the factory tour at the last NARAM, all those scale rockets were shown including the big Saturn 1B. They told us many of them were just prototypes for possible kits. As for the massive 1B, that has been around at hobby shows for decades as a conversation piece. I have a picture of Mary Roberts standing next to it, and the pic is from around 1990 or so.

I have a big 1b as well. My uncle started it in the early 70's. I was able to obtain the missing capsule from Semroc a few years back. I'm determined to finish it this year. I believe eRockets has the decals available and I'll probably get a few of their new Saturn parachutes too.

I wish they would kit that huge Saturn 1B as well as bringing back the 1/70 and 1/100 versions.
I'd like to see the K21 Gemini Titan and K41 Mercury Redstone back too.

I believe this is another picture of that big Estes Saturn 1B? If so, it is about 1/45 scale.

You are correct. That is the same 1/45 Saturn 1B. The picture is from a hobby show about 30 years ago.

The model was produced around the time that Estes was looking into composite motors. Seems like it was a Vulcan G80 motor that didn't eject and made an accordion out of one of the prototypes.
