![]() was thinking to build a 3x upscale version of the hi-flyer but ran into a snag. turns out the airframe tubes I have on hand are bt-70lite (thin wall), trying to decide whether to use it or order a standard tube.

![]() Not sure why anyone would want thinner wall BT-70, but definitely could understand THICK walled tubing.
Get the real stuff at a minimum.

![]() Probably stems from TVM's design philosophy to make flyweight rockets that can fly on D12s, although I don't know how much weight you save after having to add tape to the nose so it won't wobble and fall off

![]() decided to try slotting a tube to see if I could (w/o crushing it). once I had managed that figured that I might as well use what I had. got the motor mount installed and the forward section done, now to cut and paper the fins.

![]() That should fly nicely on the 29mm Estes F15's.
I would not fly that thin-wall tubing thing on a motor with any more kick than a Aerotech RMS24 F24 though. Certainly NOT on a REAL F or G like the F52 or G80. The tubing will probably crumple.

![]() I had 24mm Ds and Es in mind, more of a 'demo' rocket should get about 500' on a D12-5 and 1200' on an E18(about 400' for the standard size one on an A8). should be just about right for the Woosh lpr fields

![]() so it had its' first flight today on a D12-5, seemed like it 'used' every inch of the 5' launch rod, but it was a nice straight flight even in bright sunlight the drive flame was clearly visible. downside is now I have to finish painting it
