Question Guess the latest project

I pushed a bunch of projects to the side to finish this one up. I'm about 80% done. Can anyone guess what this kit is other than the designer who frequents the forum now and then? I've made quite a few mods on the design that I think will help it hold up better. I'm also considering staging it. I'll post a build report when I finish it up.

No idea, but it's a cool rocket. Is it a scale bird, or just one made to look like it?
Instead of a build report, why not post a review to EMRR?

Buzz,

It looks vaguely familiar, but this is as close as I can get to the "upper half":

Estes Sentinel

Mike Jerauld had something that looked like this on his "Blast from the Past" Rocketry website, but that's been down for the last month or so, so there's no way I could track that down.

Cheers,

What ever happened with BFTP? I still see Mike's name popping up with the launches out west, but I really miss the site. Think he just decided that it was too much trouble?

Looks sort of like an Estes Seahawk, but the fins on the upper part are not right... Ya got me.

Looks like a modified version of Matt Steele's Terrier-Orion he designed for Quest.

My first thought was the Seahawk also. Always liked that rocket.

Thanks everyone for playing, but "Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" Nobody got it.

Scott was closest. He got the designer right. It's called the Aegis X from North Coast. Only available if you joined NCR's Power Club. You also got the NCR Tempest (attached) by joining. I was a member for a whole month before the club was disolved due to Matt's move to Estes. The main reason it's been sitting so long is I never really liked the stock method of building the transition and needed to think of something different. It's a card stock transition shroud with the weight of the upper stage (inert) resting on the upper edge and the lower edge resting on the lower BT (seperation point). My solution was to cut a short section of the upper and lower tubes and glue them the couplers and fill the paper shroud area with expanding foam. I soaked the shroud with thin CA and with the foam support it's pretty strong. The inards of the transition section was built like an electronics bay so I can add a timer for staging later. I also cut a new set of booster fins with TTW tabs.
