Anyone with source for Methyl Isobuttyl Ketone
I know it may sound strange for ME to be asking a question related to Dope/thinners as I usually provide the advice on this topic, but anyway...
Does anyone have a source for Industrial/Finishing (NOT scientific/chemical analytical) grade Methyl Isobutyl Ketone (MIBK) in pint or even quart quantities ? My previous paint-shop source now only sells it in GALLON or larger quantities. It would take me 20 years to use a Gallon of this stuff when used in my 4-ingredient and 3-ingredient Dope-thinner mixes. I have found it on ebay in small quantities, but itis only in the VERY expensive scientific/reagent grades that are needed for analytical use, but totally over-purified for thinning Dope and Epoxy. Any advice on a reputable source is greatly appreciated. I could just buy a quart of Sig Butyrate Thinner but my local hobby shop charges a ripoff $19/quart for it.

My advise is buy a gallon before it becomes deprecated.

You never could buy straight MIBK at hobby shops.
You have to get it at specialty paint stores or industrial solvent supply companies. My source stopped selling in less than gallon cans. I don't want or have a need for a gallon. I guess I could use 3/4 of the gallon as octane boost/fuel injector cleaner in my cars. A quart of this stuff is enough to make a gallon of dope thinner in my mix of equal parts Toluene, Acetone, MEK, and MIBK.
