Default So...

...of perhaps limited interest to the majority of the forum readers, but of some importance to WOOSH members...

Where do we believe future monthly meetings of WOOSH will be held, now that Greenfield N&H is closing its doors?

The Prop Shop in Warren is still open and one of the decent hobby shops I was speaking of.
The other really good one is Nankin Hobby in Farmington.
The Prop Shop is good, but Nankin is really great.
P&D Hobby in Clinton Township is good too.

The local one 15 miles away from my home is Riders in Flint.

Thanks. I'll check them out next time I have a job in the Detroit area.

The Prop Shop has a website but it REALLY sucks and is a monster to try to find anything through it.

Hey Andy, long time no see--

What is strange about them closing is that it always seemed like the store was at least semi-crowded whenever I was in there. All that crafty stuff they sold too, I thought it was what kept them going. I guess not. Hard to compete against online sellers I suppose.

I've been visiting this store since I was barely tall enough to see the rocket kits at the old Cudahy store. This is really sad news....

And it is where WOOSH started meeting of course, right next to the slot car tracks and the smelly restrooms

Ya, I joined the club just as we moved to GNH so never got to experience the CNH basement.

This is a bummer, for sure. They were the most well-rounded, well-stocked hobby shop in the area. Now we're left with:

HobbyTown (Delafield) - Delafield isn't bad, but Rocketry selection is only Estes, and it's waaaay out there. Somewhat limited motor selection.

HobbyTown WA - Meh.

Model Empire - Great for plastic models, but rocketry isn't great - estes kits only, and very limited motor selection.

Hobby Lobby - they're good for only one thing, the 40% off coupon on 29 mm BP motors. Rocketry selection is lousy.

Michaels - Hardly worth mentioning, even lousier rocketry selection than HL.

Happy Hobby - Every time I go there, it gets weirder.

Hiawatha - The best remaining of the bunch, IMHO. They carry the complete line of Estes motors, and now discount motors D and up, 15-20%.

"Happy Hobby"?? Sounds like some place I'd expect to hear about in Colorado, selling various "supplies" for recently legalized materials...

Later! OL JR
