Default More kits on Sandman Decals

While printing a very large decal order today my last Alps printer suffered a damaged printer head.

I'm at a loss right now, I do not know how to proceed and I am quite upset but it was an eventuality I had expected.

I currently have 6 damaged worn out...whatever, Alps printer and I am currently on the lookout for a replacement.

The repairs aren't expensive but the round trip shipping to Japan is about $550 to $600.

I don't want to close down my web site so while I try to figure out if I can or even can afford to repair some printers I will just issue refunds.

Anybody out there have a working Alps printer they are willing to part with?

Unfortunately, out of the three I own only one is working or I would. Did you ever buy one of the Kodak printers or just the ribbons?

This has always been a looming issue, those printers are quirky and fragile and as you point out, repairs are nearly unobtanium.

Wanna resurrect the nearly dead skill of decal screen printing?

I have a UPS-SCS account so they could be shipped by sea for cheap all at once on a pallet. I assume you have to ship the entire printer not some sort of toner cartridge. Why not get all of those fixed all at once so you have few more years till this problem arises again.

If you do this I suggest hoarding other Alps abandoned equipment from folks all over the country mainly near you.

Jerry

I emailed "Elephant Rockets", yes, that is the name of the company that fixes Alps printers, and I'm waiting to hear back from them on just what models they can repair out of the six (6) damaged printers I have.

That may determine how I'll proceed.

Unfortunately they are in Japan and I think they are 16 hours behind us so I have to wait to hear.

Not sure what to do yet, this just happened...it was kind of expected but still a disappointment.

I never had a Kodak printer and the Kodak ribbon was troublesome at best.

Screen printing is quite impractical for just a few of each made to order.

I have had very good luck with my Alps printer but they are just so fragile and not really designed for production work but there just is absolutely no replacement on the market.

I have some pre printed decals left, some decals I can print multiple copies to a sheet so I have some to sell.

I'm "adjusting" my web site quantities to sell those decals but new prints are out for the time being.

What a PIA!

Joe, the ones that seem to have possibilities are on my "watch list" on Ebay but the ones that ship from Hong Kong, forget about it!

The Alps group has pointed out several times to avoid them.

But, Elephant Rocket has had rave reviews.

BTW, I have not and will not post on TRF about this.

TRF has not been that Vendor friendly lately, especially if you don't purchase an ad banner from them.

Let them eat vinyl.

Which uncouth rocketry god decided that I could have Semroc or Excelsior but not both?
