I made those decals back in 2010. I never saw them on the model. Cool!

I forgot who I made them for.

I wish you knew who you sent them to Gordy.
Plaistow, NH is very close to the CMASS Amesbury, MA launch site and I have never seen that rocket at that CMASS launch site.

It think it was JeffyJeep.

When I went back and culled the pictures from all the prior threads, I tried to get the names of the builders. I was sorta thinkin' this might be a good start of a sticky to post future pictures and suggestions for Big Bertha builds all in one place so we don't have to go searching through the archives (although it was kinda fun).

I was going to do the same thing for V-2 when I had a chance.

Perhaps we might have a special section where the threads were by rocket: Big Bertha, Saturn Ib , Mars Lander and V-2 come up fairly frequently and we could just add on when one of us builds one, has a question or is looking for inspiration. I'm also not sure which other rockets might merit such a thread: Alpha and Big Daddy? Sandhawk?

...and perhaps the Der Red Max and it's variants could be included also.

Yes, it was I that built the BB and a Big Daddy for Singer Subaru and the subsequent TV commercials. Sandman did the awesome custom decals. I still have the original correspondence and scraps from the decals that I finished the BB and Big Daddy with. The paint colors used on the models were Testors French Blue and Wimbledon White.

OK, tell us the whole story of how this came about.

Singer was sold recently, I heard talk this past summer.

Here's what happened, I remember it only because I printed and kept most of the correspondence:

In the summer of 2010 Aaron Singer of Singer Subaru in Plaistow, NH contacted me and requested that I build, finish, and place custom decals on a Big Bertha and a Big Daddy for he and his son. He provided a .jpg file with the logo and text. Since I already had the kits I figured it would be commissionable, depending on if Sandman would commission the decals--which he did after seeing the .jpg file.

After building and primering the models I sent some color and decal placement schemes to Aaron singer for approval and we decided on the French Blue and Wimbledon White combination.

The models were finished, I was paid, I paid Gordy, and I sent the models to Singer Subaru and soon after that the Big Daddy was used in a Singer Subaru TV commercial.

Speaking of Sandman, one of my favorite BB variants is "The Love Bug" that begins with a BB kit but is finished with Sandman's custom decals and fin pattern. The colors are Rusto Sweet Pea Pink and Rusto Berry Pink.

"The Vixen" spent a couple of hours cutting out all of the teensy little heart decals. What a trooper!

Well I don't have a completed picture of the alterations yet, but here is the thread posted on my forum in the Rocket First Aid sub-forum.

I was hoping to have a finished photo, but for some reason when I was spraying primer on the baffle tube section I got some crazing in the primer.

That Mercury/Bertha and Gemini/Bertha are really neat.

The Big Bertha is a classic that I have never built or owned even as an unbuilt kit.
I have built several Astron Rangers though; the 3-engine cluster and large payload section make it far more interesting to me.
