Default CATO-Chutes

Hey folks

I did something to irk the forum owner of TRF and was banned. No big deal there as I have grown somewhat tired of the whole forum thing.

That said, the owner took out his displeasure with me on my wife as well by canceling her banner ad. She is the sole owner/operator and head chute-maker of CATO-Chutes. My only involvement is that I sometimes carry her boxes to the post office and every now and then steal some inventory.

So, I wanted you all to know that CATO-Chutes remains alive and well (even w/o the ad) and Karen is there for your smaller custom chute needs

(I am only posting this as I feel bad that something I did resulted in a pot-shot being taken at my wife)

Don't worry Al, many consider it a badge of honor to be banned or have your ad pulled. You got both!

Seriously, the owner there is hyper sensitive to criticism that relates to how he runs the forum. It also seems he hates to do anything with it that requires any of his personal time. I know you were having issues with the ad and calling it to his attention probably irked him to no end. I had my ad pulled when it disappeared for over a month. He finally fixed it, then a few hours later refunded my latest payment and cancelled the ad. I still can't figure out why he bothered to fix the issue if he was just going to pull it anyway.

And yeah, the whole forum thing can get old, especially if you have a connection to a vendor. I don't post or check in nearly as much as I once did. I know I miss a lot of good stuff but I also miss a fair amount of bad stuff.

Now you know why it has gained the moniker "TERRIBLY RUN FORUM" over here on YORF among the many alumus that have been banned or (like me) simply quit after getting tired of their total BS over there...

Welcome to the club.

The "seven year old's birthday party forum" certainly is a class act... NO class, that is...

Meh... hope they rot myself...

Later! OL J R

Sorry to hear about your experience but not at all surprised. I stopped going to trf more than a year ago except to check email because of the way they moderate and manage the place.

Al, I went to CATO CHUTES and there's more than enough there for Randy to do a short feature on Fire & Smoke. Please ask your wife if it would be ok for us to post an article on our site and place an ad for her, for free.

Let us know.

Rocket Al!
Welcome to the club. The kingdom of the banned.

CATO chutes are great by the way.

Cato Chutes.... even strong enough for some of my Stupid Rocket Tricks!

Exactly-- I just snapped and quit TRF January of last year... got sick and tired of the BS over there, and the sorry bunch of nutjobs that now own that forum and are running it into the ground...

Oh well...

While I've occasionally read TRF postings (I came across informative ones when I was searching for information on the Blue Scout vehicles and on Dr. Fritz Zwicky's 1957 Aerobee-lofted artificial meteor experiment), I never felt inclined to join that forum because of similar shenanigans there that I'd read about earlier, and now I'm definitely against doing it. Also:

I just looked at the CATO-Chutes website, and it inspired an idea: No one, to my knowledge (which is far from encyclopedic), makes ribbon parachutes for model rockets. Besides being aesthetically pleasing, model rocket ribbon parachutes would be rip-resistant (and easier on rockets) if deployed accidentally (due to motor defects, timer errors, etc.) at higher airspeeds. They would also provide higher descent speeds than solid 'chutes of the same size, which would be helpful for flying on smaller fields and/or on breezy days.

Thanks for the kind offer. Karen would be happy to have you do a short thing on Fire & Smoke. She is not big into forums, so you can reach her @ karen5730-at-cox-dot-net.
