DARS hosted the JimZ archive back in the late 90s - early 2000s.

edit: the "About" page lists Bob Biedron. I don't know him personally, but have heard his name many times

Unless something changed in the last month or two, Tony Reynolds owns the servers that host JimZ, DARS, and spacemodeling.org.

Default Flood

I talked to Jim, my old friend,,, and his house was recently flooded. He lost all his computers, equipment and files. Plus had other issues in life , like many of us, that just stop you cold. Best to all.....

Ouch that is awful.

Learn from this, folks: always use an off-site backup. Cloud backups are cheap and incredibly easy to set up; I use Backblaze and it's great but there are plenty of others as well. Don't let a catastrophic physical property loss be compounded with an easily-preventable data loss.

I don't have any knowledge of Jim's data backup situation or anything like that, but it's just a good reminder that stuff like this can happen and that it's easy to protect at least one important part of your property, which is your data.

A lot of his stuff was old, and it was water damaged. It was all in his basement.

Terrible news. This spring has been a bad one for many affected by the floods here.

Try some of the Centuri plan files......a number of them (from the same link you provided.....that's the link I've always used) have many missing tiff files. Some are still there and it it's kinda 'hit and miss', but a number of the files are el gone-o.
