Snooper-Trident fin dimension
I am looking at an upscale Trident (2.25x) and Snooper (2x). I would like the accurate fin span for the Trident fin at the tube root to the tip and the Snooper fin from the main body to the pod surface. Checking with the experts here.

I only have the SEMROC version of the Trident. It's span is 2.0625", but I don't know if it is exactly the same fin as the original.

I just checked my original Astron Trident and PDR Trident.
The dimension given by tbzep from the Semroc kit matches my original Astron Trident and the PDR clone.

Gotta love an uber geeky thread where only Irvine, GH and tbzep posts, occasionally prickly personalities.

Tear.
Snooper needed. Sprite wouldn't hurt. Body to ring tube. Last edited by Jerry Irvine : 04-28-2017 at 02:24 PM. |

Geez, I hate to get in the middle of a 3-way bromance, but I happen to have a Mars Snooper under construction. I started with a BMS clone I had, but decided to pull out my Estes Collector's Edition Mars Snooper, figuring it is the standard from which to extract measurements. See picture with dimensioned fin on the small piece of paper.
Jerry, I am assuming this is what you want. It's 1.75" You all can return to your ménage a trois...

Sprite BT to inside of BT-70 ring fin: 11/16 of an inch. This is off a built Semroc repro, but I would expect it to be correct.
That said, half the difference between the OD of BT-30 and the ID of BT-70 is 0.71 inches.
