Wasn't that the dog that followed "Chet" into station 51 ??

That was Boot, who came to the series as a stray in the second or third episode of the first season. He was a mutt, sorta like a large sized Benji. Chet was always fooling with him. The Basset came later in the show. His name was Henry. Chet was always fooling with him too. I believe Henry was the same dog that was used in Columbo. If was more than one dog, they used the same trainer, Ray Berwick.

Terribly sorry for your loss, Sandman, but congrats on your new family member.
Barney is quite the handsome guy, and it seems everyone involved is very lucky and blessed.

We didn't have to go to a shelter. We adopted a feral cat.
She was so hungry she was eating the bird seed I put out. We started feeding her and two weeks later she moved her new kittens to our back porch. _______________________________ |

It's been a year and a half since I adopted Barney.
I am sad ...sadder than you think to tell you guys that Barney has passed. He was doing so well but then he developed a tumor that was more than his little constitution could handle. I miss him so much. Here he was with Santa last Chrismas.

Gord,
So sorry for your loss. Its obvious that Barney had a pretty good life with you. We have not had dogs for about 5 years, due to my wife’s asthma, and I’ve never really gotten accustomed to not having a dog around. They bring a lot of joy to our lives.

He looks like a good pal. It is hard to let them go, no doubt. They become like one of the family, even in a year and a half. But know that, while he made YOUR life brighter during that time, you no doubt made HIS life brighter, too.

Thanks guys.
I got the top plack the Christmas before and the bottom one this year. It says how I felt about him.

Sorry for your loss, Gordy. My wife and I have allergies that would make pet ownership tough for us, but both of our kids have dogs. Even though they aren't ours, we worry about them when something happens to them. I don't even like to think about the possibility of going through losing one of them. I feel for you.
