Go ahead and place the nose cone into the other end of the payload tube, but DO NOT glue it in.

The shock cord mount is plain piece of paper folded into three sections. The shock cord is 3/8" width elastic band about one meter or so in length.

Shock cord mount and cord assembly glued into the airframe tube about four inches from the top of the tube.

Looking good, can't wait to see the finished model! Were the nose cone and transition on the 1340/20 balsa? I was planning on 3D printing a set of plastic ones. Was the fin can red along with the transition and nosecone?

On this model the nose cone and transition/reducer are both balsa. The fin can came from an Estes Eliminator.

I did paint the fin can red according to the colorized photo of the B&W photo I have of it. The transition/reducer and nose cone are both black. The stripe on the payload bay is silver.

Once all of that is complete you can tie the shock cord the screw eye on the reducer/transition as well as the parachutes. I ended up using a single 18" parachute for its first flight.

I ended up designing some custom 3/16" launch lugs for this project. An upper one that goes on the payload bay and the other that fit over fin can's launch lug and has a built in standoff that makes it level with the upper one.
