[QUOTE=rokitflite]...which AS FAR AS I KNOW the first model to ever use this type of pod ejection technique./QUOTE]

Scott,

Thanks so much for the feedback. I've built a LOT of rockets and I knew I hadn't seen anything like your pop-pod design. It is truly remarkable, and worth building the rocket for alone, just to see how it works. Really ingenious design and slick execution. As I've said, it's obvious a LOT of thought and experience went into this rocket.

As for the inspiration, I love the German X-plane theme and it truly reminded me of the Indiana Jones plane the first time I saw it.

As for your being a "lazy builder", that may be, but you're the opposite when it comes to creating instructions. I've helped Sandman with the instructions on some of his kits and I know writing them is often the most painstaking part of putting a kit together. You obviously put a ton of effort into the instructions which made building the kit a true pleasure.

Thanks again, Scott.

Steve

Fix it and come fly it at Needville. Maybe then I'll be inspired to pull my FW out and build it.

Scott: I am building a Semroc Nighthawk and just finished sanding the airfoil on the wings of the glider. The way the airfoil is done on the NH is new to me and different from what I have seen on other instructions . Have you tried the same type of airfoil on the FW?

Man, you guys are determined to get me hooked into buying one of these! They sure look neat, but I'm afraid I'd goof it up...

I have a two or three book set on all the German X-planes they were planning/building when the war ended... some of them are TRULY unique! I especially liked the Horton brother's flying wings-- VERY UFOish, only about 50 years ahead of their time, and they would have been virtual stealth aircraft given the primitive radar technology of the time...

VERY cool stuff! OL JR

No... Remember when I said I was a "LAZY" builder? And I don't think it needs to glide any better or farther... I've stopped flying mine because I'm tired of walking after it!

I got mine started today.

Scott has enough pictures in the instructions so you don't need to see mine.

You have to work really hard to goof up one of Scott's kits.

He thinks of everything.

Very true. The instructions are well written, go smoothly and logically, and are loaded with color photographs portraying each step. It's hard to screw it up. He told me that he even considered including a hole punch with the kit, as that is one of the required tools for making the baffle and a tool everyone may not have .

Yep, the instructions are truly a work of art. Plus, there are just a HUGE number of photos with almost every step.

Jeff, if I didn't goof up mine, there's no way you (or anyone else) will goof it up. You just need to follow the incredibly detailed instructions.

Granted, mine didn't actually fly the couple of times I launched it, but it probably just needs a small trim adjustment.
