I did a google search with "more rockets Sanbornville New Hampshire" and didn't get a hit. It never dawned on me to just type in morerockets.com.

If you read through the post, it gives you the impression that not only clones are being made, but copies of Estes kits that Estes still own the rights to. I sent an email and "Dan" responded back with his site address www.MoreRockets.com |

I have heard that InFlight is going to produce a BSG Viper too in the near future. The Viper from Morerockets looks pretty good but the cone doesn't look quite right at the end. When we first began looking to build our clones we had thought we might just modify a stock Estes cone (I forget the number) but then Verna sent Mike one of our originals and he did a batch for Moldin Oldies so we went with his resin casts, which BTW, were excellent. The photo of the More Rockets kit looks pretty good but I'm wondering if they are just using a modified cone, rather than one they have produced. The price for the kit is reasonable. I may get one as well. Randy www.vernarockets.com |

Randy - Great catch on that nose cone on the More Rockets viper. the cone looks like it's a bit too long to me. Also I can't tell if there's a cavity or not. All in all though it's a nice looking kit. I may grab one myself. By the way I'm a big BSG viper fan. I've built one clone myself and have three more under construction. It was reading about and seeing Verna's vipers and Dr Sue's vipers that got me on this Viper kick.

I seem to recall him making a post on TRF about one of his auctions for a clone kit a few months back. I can't recall his handle, though. I remember checking out the auction, but it wasn't anything I was particularly interested in. It looked to me like the instructions in that particular kit were just copies of the old Estes kit instructions.

I have a More Rockets Viper kit that I won a couple of weeks ago. It looks like a well-done kit but I haven't been able to start it yet. Maybe this weekend if I'm lucky. |

It looks like a regular hollow plastic nose cone with a diagonal cut to take the top off. |

Estes doesn't seem to care but...
At the bottom of the decal scan for the Colonial Viper it says, "1978 Universal Studios Inc. All rights reserved. Trademarks of and Licenced by Universal Studios Inc."

Thanks Mikus. I ordered balsa nose cones from Semroc, cut them at an angle, and then drilled them about an inch deep. That way I was able to glue the nose cone lead weights in and it also has that cool scoop look from the front. I don't know if I got the angle completely right, but it works for me.

That "cool scoop" probably reduces the altitude obtained with any given engine by at least 200 feet.
I wish somebody made a "scale like" BSG Viper FLYING rocket kit that has the correct RECTANGULAR fuselage/engine intakes profile in front and round exhausts in back. The Estes kit always appeared too "Stand WAY OFF-scale" to me.
