I thought something looked fishy about the fins on those and they looked in WAY too good of shape compared to the trailer/transport.

You are far more observant than I am Bob. I saw them up close and took the picture and didn't notice that.

Are they low serial numbers? That'd make them collectable, right?

Hawk Missiles
Hey guys, thanks for the pictures. I'm a Hawk Marine from the Vietnam days.
I'm going down to N. Attleboro to see this baby myself. I called this morning after seeing your pictures to verify that it was still there. Now I work at Hawk Missile Headquarters, Raytheon, Andover, MA. 1st, 2nd, 3rd L.A.A.M.Bn Light Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalions. 29 Palms, CA., Monkey Mountain, Danang, RVN, Cherry Point, NC. Two Pictures for your enjoyment. Both taken July 21st, 1969. The day they landed and stepped onto the Moon. |

Re: Serial numbers on the missiles.
Perhaps the reason the serial numbers are the same is because these missiles in the photos are Home Made.
Not to actual scale because they're too short, too fat, and the wings and control surfaces are obviously not real. The (what would be movable) control surfaces simulate the newer Hawk 21 series. But that series of missiles is longer than the original, which I worked on. I have many pictures from 1968 through 1971 showing the older series on loaders, and those missiles are longer than these. There are a few other differences also. I believe I read others already mentioning them. |

Great pictures! The one with the guy sitting on the missle is really something. The general consensus is that the Hawks are mock-ups but the launcher is real over at G.I. Joe's Army Navy store in North Attleborough MA. I have to get back over there though because the store itself looked like one of the better one's I've seen and I didn't even have a chance to look around at all when I took the pictures.

Loader and Missiles N. Attleboro
I'm headed to Rhode Island on Thursday, so I'll be taking pictures.
Probably going back on Friday or Saturday to talk to them about it. Depending on it's condition (the Loader), I might ask about a selling price. For my VFW. We'd use that baby in Veterans' Parades. |

Hawk Marine Reunion 1999 Raytheon, Bedford, MA.
The guy sitting on the missiles "Oliver Wiley" arranged this reunion.
Sadly, he passed away after an auto accident a few years ago. |
